Real Bride: Richenda
Bride: Richenda | Groom: Monte
How did you meet your husband?
We met when we were 14 years old through the Gisborne Soccer Club. I played soccer with Monte’s little sister. We went to different high schools so would hang out on most weekends.
How did your partner propose to you?
14 years after we met Monte took me on a surprise weekend away in the Otways (one of our favourite places). We walked to a beautiful waterfall and Monte set up the camera to take a photo of us. As the camera was taking photos he got down on one knee.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Hard to pick a favourite part. Everything was just so perfect. But dancing for most of the night and seeing all our guests having such a blast definitely made the night special.
Did you have a theme or concept for your wedding day? What was your inspiration?
Our theme was rustic/country/Australiana. We are both country kids with a love for the bush and everything Australian. So it was always going to be that kind of theme. I think that native Australian flowers are the most beautiful in the world.
How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?
Shopping at Bendigo Bridal was fun and easy. There was always someone there to effortlessly help me in and out of dresses. The staff listen to what you are looking for in a dress and I felt incredibly lucky to find exactly what I wanted there.
What did you love about your wedding gown?
Everything! The long sleeves, the beading, the long silk skirt, the train. It was just perfect in every way.
Any words of wisdom for future brides?
I learnt that if you put the effort in then everything is much more likely to go the way you want. And delegate! If you have people offering to help you with stuff, then take them up on it. You can’t expect to do everything yourself. They are generally thrilled to be a part of it and being surrounded by friends and family you love throughout the process makes it so much more enjoyable.
