Real Bride: Tara
Bride: Tara | Groom: Jason
How did you meet your husband?
We met through mutual friends around 8 and a half years ago.
How did your partner propose to you?
No big surprise proposal here, we spoke about eloping then went ring shopping together. We have 2 children and we wanted to involve them in everything too. Our 3 and a half year old was pretty chuffed by the whole thing.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
The intimacy – the day was about us and our immediate family in Hawaii. There was no stress, it was very relaxed which made it easier to take it all in. We had the best day with our 2 children and 10 of our closest family and friends. We then had a party back in Australia to celebrate with the rest of our loved ones.
Did you have a theme or concept for your wedding day? What was your inspiration?
We wanted the day to be about us and the simplicity of nature. We were married at the Hoomaluhia Botanical Gardens about 30mins from Honolulu. Pastor Mark who married us played the ukelele throughout the ceremony and the backdrop for our ceremony was all about the dramatic views!
How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?
It was actually quite easy. I found the dress I loved within 10 mins of being instore. We were getting married in 3 months so I had to lock something in quickly to make the tight time frame. I never doubted my decision and still love my dress.
What did you love about your wedding gown?
Firstly the lace bodice - I loved how it had a low back and front. The way the skirt moved on the day made for so pretty epic photography. It was so comfortable and easy to wear on the day. I even wore it again to our Australian party.
Any words of wisdom for future brides?
It doesn't have to be stressful, try and enjoy the ride.
