Real Bride: Tamara
Bride: Tamara | Groom: Coby
How did you meet your husband?
Coby and I meet on a night out through a mutual friend who played football with Coby and I knew through university
How did your partner propose to you?
We were at Lavandula (one of my favourite places) at one of the harvest celebrations and Coby proposed under the massive rose arbour. It was completely unexpected and I was in shock!
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Its so hard to choose!! Ahh I really loved the pre wedding photos we did with the bridal party, first at our property, then racing off in cars to an old kiln ruin in the bush to finally having photos done in the main street of Maldon!! A real traffic stopper!! Also I loved dancing with all our loved ones after the ceremony to a local Blues band! The whole day was so much fun!
Did you have a theme or concept for your wedding day? What was your inspiration?
We wanted it to be more of a party then a “wedding” so we had a super cool celebrant and a short and sweet ceremony, a rocking local band, great food and plenty of drinks, we tried to keep it as much like our personalities as possible. Pinterest was a pretty good site to show what could be possible and different ways of doing things, like bar set ups and cake inspiration.
How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?
It was the thing I dreaded the most in the lead up to the day, I’m quite small and have never worn white so I went in not thinking I would like anything I saw and that nothing would suit me or fit! But when I walked in, Bron greeted me and suggested a couple of gowns that suit girls shaped like me and the first dress I tried on was the one! I tried a few others but was really drawn to the first as, like my Bridesmaids said, it was more my style and personality a real party dress. Bron and the girls were so beautiful and made what I thought would be a painful and embarrassing occasion, one that I really enjoyed and I can’t thank them enough!
What did you love about your wedding gown?
It wasn’t your typically wedding gown; it was a sexy party dress and made me feel so comfortable and sassy! Plus it was an amazing price, which allowed me to splash out on my dream Christian Louboutin shoes!
Any words of wisdom for future brides?
Stick to your personal style in all areas and trust the judgement of dress fitters as they’re the professionals in knowing how the dress will sit, move and sculpt to your body and will be able to suggest styles. Also, try and organise everything in advance so you can just relax and enjoy the day, it goes way to quickly!
