How did you meet your husband?
Jarrod lived next door to my brother, and was good friends with him. Whenever I went to my brother’s house, Jarrod would conveniently turn up at the same time!
How did your partner propose to you?
In April 2017 along the banks of Southbank outside Crown Casino, while the fire displays were happening.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
The reception! Finally getting a chance to relax, dance and have fun with our guests.
Did you have a theme or concept for your wedding day? What was your inspiration?
Our overall concept was relaxed and simple with natural tones. The venue at Harcourt Valley Vineyards was perfect, offering a relaxed and picturesque ceremony amongst the vineyards and gum trees, and with the reception held onsite inside a beautiful rustic, cosy, stone building .
Our decorations were predominantly large amounts of gum leaves, and beautiful native flowers such as burgundy and pale pink proteas, put together by “Jacqui’s Floral Arrangements”, a wonderfully talented friend. The colour scheme was mainly white and natural tones, so the dark green gum leaves and burgundy and pale pink native flowers fitted in nicely, bringing in some touches of colour.
How did you find the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?
I found shopping for a wedding gown relatively easy, as before I went anywhere I looked on Bendigo Bridal Collections’ Facebook site, and instantly fell in love with a dress displayed there. I went in to the shop and tried it on, and knew instantly it was the dress for me. However to be sure I was making the right decision I still tried on a couple of other dresses. In the end I knew the first dress I tried on was perfect, so I bought that a couple of weeks later.
What did you love about your wedding gown?
I loved that the dress involved an intricate lace design, but at the same time was simple and not over the top. I also loved that the dress was custom made to fit my exact measurements. Once my dress was made I decided I would like to add a little more detail, so I selected a small pearl and diamond belt(?) which was sewn around the waist section of the dress. I was very glad I chose this extra addition, as I loved having some sparkles and a focal point on the dress.
Any words of wisdom for future brides?
Things will go wrong! But this doesn’t mean your wedding day will be any less special, but rather will be memorable! For me, I found out the night before the wedding that my Dad was admitted into hospital due to complications arising from a snake bite a few weeks prior, and was too unwell to come to the wedding. This required a lot of last minute planning and changing things around, but in the end everything came together, and we still had an amazing, memorable wedding.
